Big Brothers and Big Sisters come in all shapes, sizes and colors. Some are retired, some are still working. Some are college students. Big Brothers and Big Sisters can be single, in a relationship and/or have a family.
They are from a variety of different religious and ethnic backgrounds and have incredibly varied job histories. But they are all at a point in their lives where they want to share their experiences, knowledge and friendship with a young person. Some are looking for the chance to have fun and be a kid again, to share activities like bike riding, hiking, playing golf, flying kites or playing Frisbee.
Screening Process
No matter what their experiences or background, ALL of our Big Brothers and Big Sisters are carefully screened and carefully selected for your child. We focus on the quality and integrity of our volunteers by:
• Running a national criminal background check
• Speaking with at least 3 of their references
• Verifying their drivers license, driving record and auto insurance
• Interviewing the candidates
• Doing a Home Assessment
No child in our programs is ever matched without the approval of the child's parent or guardian. Once a match is made, we continue to provide professional support to the Big, Little and to the parent, ensuring that your child is benefiting from and having fun in this match.
