Vision

All children achieve success in life.

Mission

Provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Accountability

By partnering with parents/guardians, volunteers and others in the community we are accountable for each child in our program achieving:

  • Higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships
  • Avoidance of risky behaviors
  • Educational success

Big Brothers Big Sisters operates under the belief that inherent in every child is the ability to succeed and thrive in life. Most children served by Big Brothers Big Sisters are in single-parent and low-income families. As the nation’s largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (“Bigs”) and children (“Littles”).

Research tells us that, compared to all other children their age, boys and girls matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister perform better in school and avoid violence and illegal activities, and have stronger relationships with their parents and others.

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mohave County became affiliated after a two year application process in 1998. The first community based match was made in 1999. Since then the program has expanded to include site Based Programs. The success of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Mohave County is dependent on the volunteers serving as mentors, advisory council members and sub-committee members. In addition there are the community members that actively participate as donors through fundraisers and individual contributions.  These supporters of Big Brothers Big Sisters are investors in the lives of hundreds of young people.
